Growing up in America you learn how to celebrate freedom on the 4th of July in a grand manner. From an early age we are taught about the importance of freedom and liberty and what it means to procure both. Every country celebrates the birth of their nation but freedom and liberty is what sets America apart. Our ability to celebrate freedom is part of our culture, its what makes us who we are.

Celebrate Freedom and Liberty

In 1776, when our Founding Fathers’ signed the Declaration of Independence they were signing their death warrants and they knew that. They knew that if they failed they would hang for treason. They were so desperate for liberty and freedom that they were willing to die for it!

Today, because of our founding fathers,  you get to celebrate freedom on the 4th of July however you want. You can shoot off fireworks, eat way too many hot dogs, hamburgers, watermelon, and anything else your heart desires.

Celebrate Freedom

We started off by going to the Royse City Celebrate Freedom event and fireworks show on Friday June 30th. They offered free rides for the younger children, live music including Shenandoah plus several food trucks. I wasn’t sure what to expect considering Royse City is still a small town, however we were pleasantly surprised. Once the fireworks were over getting home was easy because there was little to no traffic. We had such a great time and we can’t wait to go back next year!

Jamieson and Caroline enjoyed all of the rides, especially the slide, they rode it several times! They had just enough time to ride the dinosaurs before we headed back to our car to watch the fireworks. They had a blast!

Honoring our service men and women

Saturday we attended a church service held to honor our veterans. It was wonderful seeing a church body expressing such gratitude to our service members who fight for our freedom to worship as we choose. Thank you to all of our service men and women from our entire family, we appreciate you and your families! Thank you for our freedom it means the world to us.

Color Guard

After the service our church’s Freedom Experience began. They offered free balloons and bounce houses, $1 dollar water, and numerous food trucks (you have to pay for your own meal). If you are looking for a family friendly event this fourth of July, look to Fellowship Church Grapevine, you will not be disappointed.

How to Celebrate Freedom on 4th of July

On the fourth we met up with my sister and her family in the evening to watch fireworks together. We found a quiet, secluded spot so that we could miss all of the traffic but still enjoy the fireworks.

Fourth of July

My sweet girls played and splashed in the puddle until the fireworks started. They have such a sweet relationship and have so much fun together.

Happy 4th of July!

I hope we gave ya’ll some inspiration for your 4th of July weekend this year! We are still planning our 2018 celebration and are not sure what we will be doing, but I already have the glowsticks! Happy 4th of July everyone!

John 15:13 Greater love has no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his fiends.
