The Best Amazing Race style adventure for the whole family
Updated on
We went on our first family friendly Urban Adventure Quest and it was a blast! We actually came in 7th place for our city choice! I was rather impressed, especially since we had all four kids with us. An Urban Adventure Quest is a scavenger hunt where the city is your gameboard, anytime. You solve clues, complete challenges and work together to see the city from a new perspective. We plan on doing this in other cities that we visit on holiday’s.
Lets start our Amazing Race style adventure
How does it work?
Each game costs $49 for a full quest and $30 for a mini quest. They do offer military, school, non profit and group discounts. Once you purchase the city of your choice you can begin your game but only start it when you are ready to play otherwise the count down begins. The countdown is part of the points, the longer it takes the less points you get so you want to have a short time. We completed the game in 3 and 1/2 hours but keep in mind we had a 4 year old and her stroller plus I took lots of pictures. Â
The adventure begins by giving you instructions on how to find your first clue. Once you get to your first location you are given a question in a scavenger hunt fashion. Some of the questions are pretty easy and some are challenging so everyone will get the chance to answer. You are lead through the quest to different locations where you will learn facts about history, architecture, and even the arts. It’s a great opportunity to learn without realizing you are learning!  Â
Each adventure is family friendly and takes you to locations that are fun and beautiful. This is The Cathedral Shrine of the Virgin of Guadalupe, built in 1868. The kids thought it was so very beautiful and we actually spent a good amount of time here looking at every part of the church.
What is an Urban Adventure Quest?
Finding all the clues!
Next clue 700!
Never a dull moment attempting to get great pictures of this bunch!
Each area that we came to had several questions that you had to answer in order to move to the next clue. For every question you answer correctly you are awarded points and every incorrect answer points are taken away. There are bonus questions to redeem a few points if you do miss. The points are what determines your place in the game along with the time it takes you to finish.
Our family friendly Urban Adventure Quest was so much fun and I highly recommend it to everyone! We walked over 10,000 steps, laughed, enjoyed talking to each other, had quality time together and tested our skills in deducing. Now it’s time for you to go on your own Urban Adventure Quest!
Remember when out on your Urban Adventure Quest to not only take pictures of your precious family but also take pictures of the world around you! It is quite beautiful!
