The best Bacon Cheddar Chive Scones
What makes this recipe Candida friendly
Remember Candida friendly means that you have already gone through the cleanse and are in maintain mode. When you are in maintain mode you can allow for “cheat” food every now and then. The cheat food this recipe includes is the cheese, flour, heavy whipping cream and bacon. To make this recipe more candida friendly exchange the flour for buckwheat flour and regular bacon for turkey bacon. Then the only thing not on the candida diet is the dairy which is ok to have when maintaining.
Making some to freeze?
Whenever I make these bacon cheddar chive scones I always make a double batch to freeze some. Freezing some of the scones is perfect for busy mornings trying to rush everyone off to work and school. This recipe is easy make ahead and freeze and its delicious fresh or frozen.
How to prepare Bacon Cheddar Chive Scones for the freezer
When you finish mixing the dough roll it in enough flour to keep it from sticking. Then using a baking dish or a cookie sheet, pat dough to about 3/4 inch thick and use a paring knife cut dough into wedges. Pick your container for freezing then cut several pieces of freezer paper to fit inside the container. Remove each wedge piece from the dish or tray and place in the bottom of your freezer container until bottom of container is full. Place a piece of freezer paper over the bottom layer of dough wedges and repeat until all dough wedges have been placed into your freezer container. Cover and place in the freezer. Another option is to cut the dough into triangular pieces then place on a parchment lined baking sheet. Place baking sheet into freezer for 30 minutes, then transfer the scones into a gallon freezer bag and freeze.
