I was looking for a way to make chemistry fun when I heard that a friend of mine decided to teach a class. So I enrolled both Jonathan and Victoria in her class. She has a total of 10 kids, all of them are friends and they are all doing well in her class. The kids range in age from 13 – 17 years old and some of these kids are already taking college courses! So once a week we all meet at another friends house for chemistry fun , we do a weekly review plus the experiment, the rest we do at home during the week.

How we have Chemistry Fun

Diving into chemistry fun, the experiments! All of the kids get the hands on experience they need and they all seem to love it.

This experiment took some team work so we had them divided into two groups. They had to measure out the correct mass then one of them crushed the mineral with a hammer while it was wrapped in foil.

Team work makes the dream work

The many faces of Chemistry!

The kids have to calculate out the mass before they dehydrate it. Next they had to break down the big chunks with a pestal before they dehydrated it.

This is so cool!

The experiment was to measure the mass while in its “solid/complete” form and then remove the liquid from it by dehydration and then measure again. After we got the second measurement they added water back into it and watched it turn bright blue again. Fun! If you are looking for a great Chemistry curriculum this one is awesome!
